Advice on what to Pack...

  • Two plain white cotton sheets worn during Hajj / Umrah (For men – Ihraam) 
  • Modest yet comfortable and loose clothing as climate varies from warm to hot throughout the year.
  • Comfortable shoes which are easy to wear/remove and store
  • Sunglasses / Prescription Glasses (if required)
  • A folding umbrella to block direct heat from the sun - especially during summer months
  • Regular medication (with a doctors certificate)
  • A belt style wallet to keep money or documents close to you at all times
  • Religious Books / Guidance / Duas's

General advice regarding Hajj and Umrah

FACILITIES

  • Facilities are becoming better and better every year, improving with the millions of pilgrims visiting Makkah and Medina each year. The Saudi authorities work hard to make your pilgrimage as easy as possible. With this in mind there are many free shower & washroom facilities. Cold water for drinking is easily accessible and restaurants provide foods to cater cuisines from all over the world. Hotels also offer all the luxuries one could ask for away from home. Transport is also an essential proposal the major city.

CLIMATE

  • The climate varies between warm to very hot, depending on the time of year. In summer it is especially hot so be sure to take precautions. There is very little rainfall it is always best to consider this when packing.

HEALTH / MEDICAL

  • The pilgrimage is obviously quite demanding and involves quite a lot of physical exertion, even with the authorities help to make it easier. Therefore it is recommended performing Hajj or Umrah in a physically good condition. If you require any medication then do take with you, along with a doctor’s certificate. As with any trip abroad, it is highly advisable to take out travel insurance to cover for any unfortunate circumstances.

SPARE TIME

  • Remember what you are there for and try to spend as much of your time in the remembrance of Allah SWT. Try to attain as much knowledge as you can about the beauty of Islam whilst in this very special place. This way you will get the most rewarding experience from your pilgrimage.
